45-minute focus session for editing with vinyl crackle, if you are doing this instead of scrolling

45 minutes on editing — the boring pass that makes it readable. A single class period, the length most people can hold before the quality drops.

45:00

Press start. The timer keeps time so you do not have to look at a clock.

Feel your ribs move. That is all the machinery you need to pay attention to right now. Choosing this over scrolling counts as a good decision, even a small one. This is a short one, so let's use the time properly.

1 Before you start

  • Decide what counts as done for this block. "Two pages" is better than "make progress".
  • Decide in advance that a bad sentence is still progress.
  • Dim the screen slightly. Bright screens make long sessions harder than they need to be.
  • Decide what you will do if you get stuck: write the problem out, then move on.
  • Write down the one thing you are going to do, in a single sentence, before you start.

2 While the timer runs

  • If you feel restless, change your posture rather than your task.
  • If nothing is working, write badly on purpose for two minutes.
  • If you are suddenly sleepy, stand up for ten seconds and sit back down.
  • Notice whether you are working or performing work. They look similar from the outside.

3 When it ends

  • Say the session is finished, out loud if you can. It marks the boundary.
  • Roll your shoulders and your neck before the next block.
  • Stand up and move for at least two minutes. The break is part of the method, not a reward.

4What to put on

vinyl crackle — A thin layer of surface noise over nothing much. Just enough texture to stop the room feeling empty.

This page is a tool, not a course. Nothing is tracked, nothing is saved, and nobody is told whether you finished.
