A 90-minute block for language practice, with plain quiet, when you are waiting for something
A single 90-minute block for language practice — repetition rather than novelty.
90:00
Press start. The timer keeps time so you do not have to look at a clock.
Let the first out-breath be longer than the in-breath. Nothing dramatic, just longer. Waiting is dead time you can spend on this instead. Keep it simple: breath in, breath out, notice.
1 Before you start
- Put the thing you keep reaching for out of arm's reach.
- Decide in advance that a bad sentence is still progress.
- Take one slow breath before you press start, so the session has a beginning.
- If your mind is already racing, write down the three loudest thoughts before you begin.
- Decide what counts as done for this block. "Two pages" is better than "make progress".
2 While the timer runs
- When you have drifted for the fifth time, that is still four returns. Keep going.
- When you catch yourself re-reading the same sentence, stop and write down what you were looking for.
- If you are stuck, say the problem out loud. It changes what you can see.
- When you get an idea for something else, park it. Do not follow it.
3 When it ends
- Have a drink of water before you check anything.
- Write one line about where to start next time. Future you will be grateful.
- Put the notes you made where you will find them next time.
4What to put on
plain quiet — No added sound at all. If you have a quiet room, that is usually better than any recording of one.
This page is a tool, not a course. Nothing is tracked, nothing is saved, and nobody is told whether you finished.
