Focus session · drawing · 90 min
90-minute focus session for drawing with a stream, when the house is busy
90 minutes on drawing — without correcting anything yet. One full ultradian cycle, for work that needs a long runway.
Press start. The timer keeps time so you do not have to look at a clock.
Quick check: is anything genuinely urgent in this exact minute? Usually the answer is no. It works with other people in the house. You do not need silence. Follow the instructions and let the rest look after itself.
1 Before you start
- Close every tab that is not needed for this one task. Not minimised — closed.
- Tell yourself the goal is time spent, not output produced.
- Decide now what you will do when the timer ends. Otherwise the decision will eat the first five minutes.
- Accept that the first five minutes will feel like wading. Wading counts.
- Take one slow breath before you press start, so the session has a beginning.
2 While the timer runs
- The first urge to stop usually arrives early. Sit through it once and the second one is quieter.
- If a thought will not leave, give it one line on the page and return to the task.
- When you have drifted for the fifth time, that is still four returns. Keep going.
- If you feel restless, change your posture rather than your task.
3 When it ends
- Do not immediately open the thing you were avoiding. Give the block a proper end.
- Note what you actually got done, not what you meant to get done.
- Resist the urge to review the work straight away. Come back to it later with fresh eyes.
4What to put on
a stream — Running water with small variation. Softer than rain and less repetitive than a fan.
This page is a tool, not a course. Nothing is tracked, nothing is saved, and nobody is told whether you finished.
If this block does not fit, try 25-minute focus session for language practice with a fan or air conditioner, when nothing else has worked today, 90-minute focus session for brainstorming with a library, when you want to be left alone or Focus session for editing: 25 minutes, brown noise, when the day has been loud.
