50-minute admin and email session with white noise and a timer, if you are tired of apps
Sit down, press start, and clear the queue for 50 minutes. Fifty minutes, the length of a therapy hour, with ten minutes off afterwards.
50:00
Press start. The timer keeps time so you do not have to look at a clock.
Take one breath that is slightly slower than the last one. That is enough to start. No account, no streak, no notification asking how you feel. This is a short one, so let's use the time properly.
1 Before you start
- Have a piece of paper beside you for the thoughts that will try to interrupt.
- Promise yourself you will not check anything until the timer ends, including "just quickly".
- Turn off notifications for the next block, not just to silent.
- Decide in advance that a bad sentence is still progress.
- Clear the surface in front of you down to the thing you are working on.
2 While the timer runs
- If the task suddenly feels impossible, make it smaller rather than stopping. One paragraph. One function. One row.
- If you are suddenly sleepy, stand up for ten seconds and sit back down.
- The first urge to stop usually arrives early. Sit through it once and the second one is quieter.
- Notice the moment your hand moves toward your phone. That moment is the whole skill.
3 When it ends
- Do not immediately open the thing you were avoiding. Give the block a proper end.
- Say the session is finished, out loud if you can. It marks the boundary.
- Resist the urge to review the work straight away. Come back to it later with fresh eyes.
4What to put on
white noise — Flat across all frequencies and very effective at covering speech. Some people find it harsh after an hour; keep the volume low.
This page is a tool, not a course. Nothing is tracked, nothing is saved, and nobody is told whether you finished.
