45-minute focus session for drawing with plain quiet, when you are at home and cannot settle
45 minutes on drawing — without correcting anything yet. A single class period, the length most people can hold before the quality drops.
45:00
Press start. The timer keeps time so you do not have to look at a clock.
Your breathing doesn't have to change yet. Let it be whatever size it currently is. Being at home and unable to settle is a very specific problem. Follow the instructions and let the rest look after itself.
1 Before you start
- Take one slow breath before you press start, so the session has a beginning.
- Let go of the version of this task you imagined doing perfectly.
- Close the door, or put headphones on, whichever signals "working" to the people around you.
- Give yourself permission to stop when the timer ends, even mid-sentence.
- Dim the screen slightly. Bright screens make long sessions harder than they need to be.
2 While the timer runs
- If the task suddenly feels impossible, make it smaller rather than stopping. One paragraph. One function. One row.
- Notice whether you are working or performing work. They look similar from the outside.
- When you finish a piece, pause for three seconds before starting the next. It keeps the pace honest.
- If you feel the urge to check something, write it on the paper beside you and keep going. Deal with the list afterwards.
3 When it ends
- Take the break away from the screen, even if it is just the other side of the room.
- Write one line about where to start next time. Future you will be grateful.
- Roll your shoulders and your neck before the next block.
4What to put on
plain quiet — No added sound at all. If you have a quiet room, that is usually better than any recording of one.
This page is a tool, not a course. Nothing is tracked, nothing is saved, and nobody is told whether you finished.
