45-minute focus block for admin and email — vinyl crackle, if you have done this a hundred times
A timer, a short prep list, and 45 minutes to clear the queue.
45:00
Press start. The timer keeps time so you do not have to look at a clock.
Your breathing doesn't have to change yet. Let it be whatever size it currently is. If you have done this a hundred times, change one small thing tonight. This is a short one, so let's use the time properly.
1 Before you start
- Get water now, so you do not have to get up in fifteen minutes.
- Remember that motivation usually arrives after starting, not before.
- Make sure your chair is at a height where your feet are flat on the floor.
- Remind yourself that you are allowed to produce something mediocre in the first pass.
- Set the timer where you can see it, or where you can deliberately not see it.
2 While the timer runs
- If the task suddenly feels impossible, make it smaller rather than stopping. One paragraph. One function. One row.
- If you feel the urge to check something, write it on the paper beside you and keep going. Deal with the list afterwards.
- Notice whether you are working or performing work. They look similar from the outside.
- If you are suddenly sleepy, stand up for ten seconds and sit back down.
3 When it ends
- Decide whether the next block is the same task or a different one. Do not drift into it.
- Note what you actually got done, not what you meant to get done.
- Say the session is finished, out loud if you can. It marks the boundary.
4What to put on
vinyl crackle — A thin layer of surface noise over nothing much. Just enough texture to stop the room feeling empty.
This page is a tool, not a course. Nothing is tracked, nothing is saved, and nobody is told whether you finished.
