About this practice

Nothing to learn and nothing to fix: 5 minutes of body scan for low energy, when nothing went right. A guided session of about 5 minutes, suited to all levels. Nothing is recorded and no account is needed.

What this works on: low energy

Low energy is a flat battery, not laziness. Pushing through it further drains reserves and produces worse work, faster.

It tends to show up as:

  • Everything feeling like an effort
  • Procrastinating on simple tasks
  • Tiredness sitting deep in the body

A short practice will not restore the reserve, but it removes some of the tension that is draining it.

Doing this after a bad day

  • Do not review the day during it — that is what tomorrow is for
  • Something physical first, then this
  • Keep it short and end it deliberately

A bad day does not need a verdict. Closing it without a post-mortem is allowed.

How body scan works

A body scan moves attention systematically through the body, region by region. It does not try to change what it finds — it builds a map of what is actually there, which is often different from what you assumed.

  • Move slowly, head to feet or feet to head, and do not skip the uncomfortable areas
  • Meet each region with plain curiosity rather than a verdict
  • Numbness and absence of sensation are findings too

What happens, minute by minute

  1. 0:00Find one place in your body that already feels fine. Use that as the starting point.
  2. 0:15Visit each area with plain curiosity, not with a verdict. Sensation is information, not a problem.
  3. 0:30This is not a performance. Nobody is listening to how well you're doing it.
  4. 0:44Notice whether your breathing is high in your chest or low in your belly. Just notice. No fixing.
  5. 1:00Let your breathing be boring. Boring is good here.
  6. 1:11Follow the breath down into your belly and feel it come back up.
  7. 1:24Notice your whole body as one shape, sitting or lying here.
  8. 1:36Notice the space between your shoulder blades.
  9. 1:46Let your whole body be as heavy as it wants to be.
  10. 1:59Stay here a little longer.
  11. 2:08If a region feels numb, that is a finding too. Note it and move on.
  12. 2:22If you're sleepy, sit up a little. Or let the sleepiness be there.
  13. 2:35When the flat battery feeling presses in, put a hand on your chest or your belly. Warmth and pressure are anchors your body already trusts.
  14. 2:54If the tiredness that sits in the bones shows up, let it be there without arguing with it. You are not trying to remove it, just to sit beside it.
  15. 3:15Breathe in through your nose and out through your nose, if that's comfortable.
  16. 3:28Say to yourself: this is uncomfortable, and I can stay with it for one more breath. Then take that breath.
  17. 3:45Notice any urge to check something. You can wait two more minutes.
  18. 3:58A few seconds of nothing now. That's on purpose.
  19. 4:09Start at the crown of the head and move down slowly. Do not skip to the parts that hurt.
  20. 4:25Take your time opening your eyes. Nothing is waiting urgently.
  21. 4:37No need to open your eyes yet.
