Why your weekend does not feel like rest — the version that fits a real week, when you have more time than usual
Rest is not the absence of work. If the weekend is full of decisions and obligations, it does not restore anything.
Start here
Six things, in the order that makes the most difference. The first two do most of the work.
This is the longer version, for a day with some slack in it.
If you only do one thing from this page, do the first point below. It is first because it removes the most friction for the least effort.
What helps
Do not save all your errands for two days. Spread them across the week and keep one weekend day genuinely clear.
Have one thing you do every weekend that has no purpose. Not a hobby you are improving at — something pointless.
Sleeping until noon on Saturday makes Sunday night harder. Keep the wake time within an hour of your weekday one.
What to do when it does not work
Deciding is tiring. A weekend full of choices — where to eat, what to do, who to see — can be more draining than a day at work.
If you feel worse on Sunday than Friday, that is a scheduling problem, not a personal failing.
Leave Sunday evening unbooked. Most people's weekend dread is about Sunday evening specifically.
Questions people ask
Should I do nothing all weekend?
Most people find that unsatisfying. The goal is fewer decisions, not zero activity.
