Deep work timer: 45 minutes of exam revision (plain quiet), when you only have a few minutes
One block of exam revision with plain quiet underneath. A single class period, the length most people can hold before the quality drops.
Press start. The timer keeps time so you do not have to look at a clock.
Notice where your body touches the chair. That contact is doing more for you than it looks. A few minutes is the whole requirement. Follow the instructions and let the rest look after itself.
1 Before you start
- Turn off notifications for the next block, not just to silent.
- Decide that today's session does not have to be good. It has to happen.
- Close the door, or put headphones on, whichever signals "working" to the people around you.
- Give yourself permission to stop when the timer ends, even mid-sentence.
- Clear the surface in front of you down to the thing you are working on.
2 While the timer runs
- When you have drifted for the fifth time, that is still four returns. Keep going.
- Notice whether you are working or performing work. They look similar from the outside.
- When the timer feels too long, look at it less. The clock is not the task.
- If you are suddenly sleepy, stand up for ten seconds and sit back down.
3 When it ends
- Put the notes you made where you will find them next time.
- Say the session is finished, out loud if you can. It marks the boundary.
- Have a drink of water before you check anything.
4What to put on
plain quiet — No added sound at all. If you have a quiet room, that is usually better than any recording of one.
This page is a tool, not a course. Nothing is tracked, nothing is saved, and nobody is told whether you finished.
