25-minute focus block for drawing — a stream, when you are too tired to try hard

A timer, a short prep list, and 25 minutes to fill the page.

25:00

Press start. The timer keeps time so you do not have to look at a clock.

Then find the nearest sound. It's probably your own breathing. Too tired to try hard is exactly the right amount of tired for this. No preamble. We start with the body.

1 Before you start

  • Make sure your chair is at a height where your feet are flat on the floor.
  • Let go of the version of this task you imagined doing perfectly.
  • Take one slow breath before you press start, so the session has a beginning.
  • Decide that today's session does not have to be good. It has to happen.
  • Get water now, so you do not have to get up in fifteen minutes.

2 While the timer runs

  • If a thought will not leave, give it one line on the page and return to the task.
  • If you are bored, the boredom is usually the last thing before something clicks.
  • When you have drifted for the fifth time, that is still four returns. Keep going.
  • If you start tidying your desk, that is avoidance. Sit back down.

3 When it ends

  • Roll your shoulders and your neck before the next block.
  • Say the session is finished, out loud if you can. It marks the boundary.
  • Have a drink of water before you check anything.

4What to put on

a stream — Running water with small variation. Softer than rain and less repetitive than a fan.

This page is a tool, not a course. Nothing is tracked, nothing is saved, and nobody is told whether you finished.
