The 10-Minute Evening Reset

Recenter your evening with a simple, 10-minute routine.

Imagine stepping into a quiet room as the sun sets, the world outside growing still. The room is just you, a comfortable chair, and a few moments to yourself.

Step 1: Set the Scene

Find a quiet space. Dim the lights, perhaps to a warm, soft glow. Sit in a chair that supports your back. Rest your feet flat on the floor. Take a deep breath in, and let it out slowly.

Step 2: Ground Yourself

Close your eyes. Notice the sensation of your breath entering and leaving your nostrils. Feel the rise and fall of your chest. With each breath, imagine roots growing from the soles of your feet, anchoring you to the earth.

Step 3: Release the Day

Now, bring to mind the events of the day. Picture them as leaves floating down a river. Observe them without judgment, without attachment. Let them drift away, one by one.

Step 4: Focus on Your Breath

Return your attention to your breath. Notice the rhythm, the flow. If your mind wanders, gently guide it back to the sensation of your breath. It's like watching a kettle boil, the water bubbling up and down, consistently, without end.

Step 5: Expand Your Awareness

With each breath, allow your awareness to expand. Feel the air around you, the chair beneath you, the quiet of the room. Let your body relax, inch by inch.

Step 6: Gratitude

Take a moment to acknowledge what you're grateful for. It could be the comfort of your chair, the quiet of the room, or the simple act of being present. Gratitude can be a powerful anchor.

Step 7: Return to the Present

When you're ready, slowly bring your awareness back to the room. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, open your eyes.

Find a quiet space and sit comfortably. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Inhale deeply, and as you exhale, let go of any thoughts or worries. Do this for 60 seconds.
